Professional Visit to Singapore Food Agency (SFA) – National Centre for Food Science

SFA – National Centre for Food Science (NCFS)

The National Centre for Food Science (NCFS) was formed as part of the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on 1 April 2019.  As the technical arm of SFA, NCFS provides not only comprehensive testing and diagnostic capabilities but also in-depth applied research and risk assessment studies for supporting SFA’s mission, i.e., to ensure and secure a supply of safe food in Singapore. With expertise in a wide range of scientific areas, NCFS also provide scientific opinions to enhance public awareness on various food safety issues. NCFS is a well-recognised centre of excellence for food safety regionally and internationally. It currently serves as the Collaborating Centre for OIE and WHO as well as the ASEAN Food Reference Laboratories in multiple food safety testing areas. NCFS plays a driving role in strengthening the technical competency of local, regional and international food laboratories by the provision of a number of capacity building programmes all year round.
